Theatre Artists’ Potential Unleashed with Two Creative Practice Bursaries
The Federation of Scottish Theatre and the Scottish Arts Council are delighted to announce the launch of Unleashed and Unplugged 2009 – two bursaries for creative artists working in Scottish theatre. The bursaries, Unleashed (£25,000) and Unplugged (£5,000), offer a unique opportunity to support two theatre artists to develop their potential by exploring, evolving and experimenting in their practice.

Kieron Smith, boy is declared 2009 Scottish Book of the Year
Acclaimed writer James Kelman has won Book of the Year 2009 in the Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust Book Awards for his novel Kieron Smith, boy. Managed by the Scottish Arts Council, the awards are Scotland’s richest book awards and net the author a total prize of £30,000.

Eight new projects supported by Scottish Arts Council Public Art Fund
£466k of National Lottery funds have been allocated to projects in locations throughout Scotland who will investigate the possibilities for public art within beaches, woodland, schools, parks and a library, and include practices such as dance, performance, music and film along with visual arts.
