Award-winning director and playwright Matthew Lenton (National Theatre of Scotland, Vanishing Point) pens and directs the show. As well as the customary fun, mayhem, audience participation and jokes, this year Matt brings a touch of Narnia to Dunfermline. |
The story revolves around a fantastical fable told to Peter by his granddad, while they walk through a door into a magical, mysterious, timeless world, where a princess lies sleeping in an ancient castle. Gradually, Peter realises this is no fantasy, as his destiny unfolds before him…

History repeats itself for Producer Alyson Orr as she plays the Queen and Good Fairy. Alyson produced and appeared in Sleeping Beauty in 2000, her first show for Carnegie Hall, after starring in pantomimes at The Pavilion Theatre, Glasgow and Kirkcaldy’s Adam Smith Theatre. She then regularly put in a double stint as Producer/Actor until 2004, when she took the decision to concentrate on backstage duties.
This year’s show promises a strong emphasis on live music with Alyson being a celebrated songstress with Glasgow girl group The Swingcats and also an accomplished flautist and saxophonist. |

Musical Director Aly Macrae composes and arranges all the music in the show and also plays the Wicked Fairy and Evil Doctor. The rest of the stellar crew is retained from recent Christmas productions at Carnegie Hall, with lighting design by Kai Fischer and sumptuous costumes once again expected of Anya Glinski. Set design, however, will be courtesy of the renowned Becky Minto (National Theatre of Scotland), who dresses the theatre for the first time this year.

Sleeping Beauty will be played by Scottish actress, Louise Stewart, 24. Louise’s first degree was in Literary Studies at Glasgow University, but she soon returned to her first love, acting. She graduated from Langside College in 2008 with a HND in Acting and Performance and has appeared in a number of stage productions including: Antigone (XLC), Detainee A (Ankur Productions) and The Trial (Ankur Productions). |
