Company Chordelia's Spring Tour - Les Amoureux

Company Chordelia is an organisation involved in dance that receives Flexible Funding from the Scottish Arts Council.

The production

Based around Angela Carter's story, The Lady of The House of Love, Les Amoureux is a story of love, life and death, (some might say a 'twisted' version of Sleeping Beauty) with a tone of gothic fantasy. Combining dance and physical theatre with opera, voice and design, Les Amoureux is a tale of corruption and purity. The production creates a world expressed through physical grace, characterful movement and the power of song. Les Amoureux is directed by Company Chordelia's Artistic Director, Kally Lloyd-Jones. The company was founded in 2002 and has recently been awarded flexible funding status by the Scottish Arts Council.

The Story

The Countess (daughter of the destoyed vampire Nosferatu) is an undead beauty living in a limbo without love. As she turns over the tarot card known as "Les Amoureux", the Countess blossoms into womanhood. The tarot card signifies the coming of a virgin soldier who will bring about the Countess' first expereience of love, as well as her death.
