Scotland’s Arts Organisations get Ambitious

Amb:IT:ion Scotland

This month saw the launch of AmbITion Scotland, a brand new £800,000 programme to support digital development and change in arts organisations throughout Scotland.

The AmbITion Scotland Programme will provide FREE workshops, events, online material, case studies and online tools to arts organisations striving for digital development – all by simply signing up to the programme online.

AmbITion Scotland will also offer financial support to fund ideas for digital development.

With access to specialist advisors, successful organisations will be offered help to audit their current digital activity, provide potential solutions for future development and for some organisations, added help to develop a business case that will form the basis of a request for financial support from AmbITion Scotland to implement digital developments.

Gwen McLeod, Co-Acting Head of Audience and Organisational Development talks a little about the project
"The most exciting thing about AmbITion Scotland is the scale of potential benefit to the whole arts and cultural sector across the country.  Involvement in the programme of events and online activity will provide a wealth of knowledge, tools and practical advice about the ways in which digital resources can be used to benefit arts organisations and their audiences.  Recent advances in technology have made available a wide range of free or low cost digital resources online but these resources are only of use if you know they exist and know how to use them!

AmbITion Scotland aims to raise awareness of this kind of resource and to shatter some of the prevailing myths about using technology in the arts sector– for example, it doesn’t have to be costly and time consuming to adopt digital resources."

The programme will also offer a more personalised development process for some organisations.  Arts organisations with ideas for digital development are invited to submit an Outline Proposal describing these ideas.  Up to 50 organisations will be selected and will benefit from specialist expertise and advice as either AmbITion Scotland Associates or AmbITion Scotland Partners, offering strong non-financial value to the organisations.  A smaller number of those organisations will be invited to submit a request for funding from AmbITion Scotland to help implement digital organisational development.
