Scottish Arts Council Young Scot Action Fund The Scottish Arts Council and Young Scot are teaming up to give young people opportunities to develop their creative talents.  Grants of up to £200 for individuals and £750 for groups can be awarded to people aged 12 to 26 for travel, publicity, funding exhibitions and buying equipment and props, amongst other things.  You can find out more and download an application form by visiting the Young Scot website, or by contact Young Scot on 0131 313 2488.

Traverse Theatre Young Writers Group If you live in Edinburgh you might want to find out more about the Young Writers Group at the Traverse. They have a couple of different groups who meet regularly to talk about and develop their writing. Most focus on writing short plays and sometimes get the chance to adapt them for the stage and even see them performed. Get Creative with the Arts Action Fund Young Scot and the Scottish Arts Council recently sung and danced their way around Scotland to gather 1,200 young people's views on the arts; what you take part in, what you want to take part in and what you would spend a million pounds on within the arts in Scotland, if you were in charge. The results of consultation are set out in the report Expressing Themselves. The Scottish Arts Council and Young Scot have teamed up to offer you the opportunity to follow your artistic dreams and fund your creative talents! Do you need a grant to:- Travel to an audition Publicise a youth orchestra performance Hire space to choreograph new work Purchase props for a show Buy some gig equipment Help to fund your own exhibition? The year long funding scheme is open to all young people (aged 12-26) and will award grants of up to £200 to individuals and £750 to groups to help them get the most out of all artforms including dance, drama, music, literature, film, visual arts and crafts. A new deal for musicians Did you know that if you are a musician, singer, songwriter or DJ, aged 18-24, and have been unemployed for at least 6 months, you are entitled to get some advice and support from music industry experts on how to get your foot in the door of the music business? Interested in working for an arts project in Europe? European Voluntary Service (EVS) are looking for an interested young person to fill voluntary work placements in Europe.  Young Scot Dan is currently working in Bosnia as a European Voluntary Service (EVS) volunteer at a Children's Arts Festival.
